Indian & cowboy announces our 2026 upfronts

Yesterday Indian & Cowboy Creative released our 2026 Upfronts into the world and the response has been wonderful.

It is officially upfront season in Canada. It should come as no surprise that Indian & Cowboy is putting our own spin on how we announce projects to the world. That's who we are. We are independent, we are scrappy, and story for story, we have a world-class slate we can't wait to share.

Folks have sent supportive messages and a few friends asked if we were trying to take the piss as streamers and broadcasters roll out their upfronts this week. We're not. We're genuinely happy for our peers, friends, and colleagues with projects slated for the world in 2026/2027.

Our timing is intentional: it's National Indigenous History Month, and our upfronts are scheduled to coincide with this month of celebration and the reminder that our stories are important and we're still here.

We have a lot of industry-facing work. Our prestige slate deserves broadcast and streamer support and reach. That is expressly part of our goal — to share our stories with the world. We're excited about future industry partnerships with all of you.

But our announcement is also something else: an insistence on independence, self-determination, and dare I say, narrative sovereignty.

We cannot allow great projects to die because we didn't get a green light or score development money. We cannot let stories fall off the end of the table anymore.

Those days are over.

We're going to find our way.

The journey continues.
